Saving weight for racing would be the logical suggestion. Some 362's were raced extensively when first built. The only other reason can think of is that Sigma used a particular hot water system that was unreliable/prone to leaks and invarably it ended up being removed. This is pure supposition on my part though...

Hi, Bought 362 this year, amazing boat. Getting info is very difficult though, perhaps other owners know of or would be interested in forming club to pool info.
I think the water systems are disconnected because they contribute to engine overheating if engine allowed to tickover too long, I am installing simple diversion to get best of both worlds.

The tubes coming out of the tank to which the pipes are connected are about 1.5 inch long onto which is fitted one of the plastic push on connectors to attatch the inlet and outlet tubes. Some of these plastic connectors grip the copper tube with tiny blades, which if the connector has been rotated a few times, act like pipe cutters and can easily leave a hole in the pipe which shoots out a jet of water when the system is pressurises. There is not sufficient length of copper tube sticking out of the tank to cut and make a new joint. It is either a new tank, which is not easy to fit or disconnection.
You will also find that when the tank perssurises the relief valve squirts some water into the bilge. Quite a lot accumulates under the aft cabin berth. Its nothing to wory about, just poor design.
