Well, it wasnt really that shocking, tho Moose seemed to think so........
A couple of weeks back I got to the stage of putting down a deposit on a Pedro 36 dutch steel cruiser. The 'shocking' bit was that it has a single engine and a bow thruster, which I have to say, having never tried one before I found really quite excellent. Unfortunately the survey showed up a few things that made us decide not to proceed so we are a few hundred quid down on the experience but at least someone else hasnt got all our money in exchange for me getting a load of work!
Other possibilities in the pipeline but immediate priority now is P32 fuel tank which is being lifted out this afternoon.

I sympathise, don't think I'll ever recover from being in debt to the tune of one groat to coliholic. Still in fear of getting dragged off to the poor-house. Oh yes and the bucks paid out for all the surveys..

Thought it was only me who ended up paying out small fortunes for the pleasure of not buying a boat.

At least you still have a boat ( albeit knackered and stinking of fuel) to while away the non-working hours.

Mind you , could you have really ever faced Byron again if you had one of those B-thruster thingys..?
