Sometimes, though, I wonder why some of of the posters don't sail back to their country --- Britain is apparently peaceful, civilized. And devoid of sailing Italians.

You must've stayed in Menorca then, we b*ggered off on Thursday to Pollenca - still got caught by the leading edge on the way in which made the last couple of hours 'exciting'. Pollenca is now very quiet compared to a couple of weeks ago, only half a dozen boats on the visitors and 3 or 4 in the anchorage.
No problem with the Italians we have come across this summer, its been the Spanish who mostly anchor in close poximity but in general they go back into a marina at night leaving plenty of room for the rest of us.

Don't really think it warrants the description racial but of late, I have come to realize that, at times, racial is another word for true. Or should that be racist? Never too sure of the difference!

I think if you check, you will find that "Substitute" or repeater flags are optional, not required. Substitute or repeater flags allow messages with duplicate characters to be signaled without the need for multiple sets of flags.

What I like the most, about being out here is that I do not need to put up with Brits.
I enjoy the different cultures, I meet on a daily basis. If I only talked and keep company with the English I would have to see the world through the bottom of a glass.
No its the diversity of view and culture that makes it so good If you are very unlucky you can meet Texans
