I have a trimtab self steering on my boat and there is a rod that goes from the trim tab to the gears on the vane bit.
It has a ball and cup sort of arrangement that i think used to lock in place.
I only have one of these rods and would like a a spare but as there is no marking on the system i have no idea of where i would get one from?
Does anyone have any idea of what i'm talking about?
if so would you have any idea where i could get it?

What model ?
You can make your own spare link at a pinch with no more than an old well oiled rigging screw (turnbuckle)with toggle, this will give you the requisite movement in all planes...
Alternatively post a pic,you may not actually need complete swivel movement.in which case armed with some stainless steel 4mm threaded rod and some offcuts of teflon66 or marylon or nylon and a hacksaw,drill,4mm tap and some screws and washers to act as the 'pins' you can replace most moving parts on board.
What model is it ?Difficult to advise specifically

I dont know the make or model it is unmarked.
It would be tricky to make the bits on the end probably being machined.
There is a small ball on the trim tab and one on the gear.
The bar between them has like cups on but i think they have at some point locked on to the ball.
I only have one rod and as it dosent lock on i think it wont be long before it goes missing one night.
When i'm next at the boat i'll get some pictures.

Just another thought if i couldnt get the piece could i just replace the top part with a one of a new system? and leave the trim tab?
Or if i replace the whole system with a sevro pedulem type would i have to take off the trim tab or glass it back to the hull?

I think it will have to wait for the pics,Evening Star.
By the way you can always attach thin cord to any vulnerable bits thus they reamin tethered to the boat.
