Security

Of course there's the issue of dragging anchor and starting a stranger's engine to help him out, which has happened on one occasion (a bunch of us worked out how to get into the boat and start the engine in the end). As someone else pointed out, it's unlikely the whole boat will get nicked so leaving the ignition key somewhere obvious (to sailors) isn't a bad idea.
Thread drift, sorry, but these days I'd think twice about rescuing a dragging yacht if I didn't know the owner.

While we were in Los Christianos, some friends re-anchored an expensive looking motor-yacht that was dragging onto the rocks, towing it clear with their dinghy and then laying out about three times as much cable - it had been very incompetently anchored. They left a note for the owner, who stormed round not in the least grateful and threatened to prosecute them for trespass. Laughable, I know, and I told them they should have retaliated by threatening to claim salvage. But what if the yacht had dragged again and been damaged? Then the would-be Good Samaritans might really have ended up in court.

Still you keep on generalising about French being thieves and a threat to "Security".

As you insist, I reported your post to the Moderators.
Do not bother to reply.
A troll, Roberto, don't waste your time feeding it. Incidentally in the case of the motor-yacht rescue above, my friends are French, the motor-yacht owner was British. Maybe a pal of KellysEye?

They are and I explained a few things they have done and the French guy who told me, if you don't believe it fine.
