searay 290 winlass switches 1994 ish

a friend has searay 290, the windlass has two switches one up/down/lock and the second is a three position centre biased toggle switch with MAIN written on panel. can anyone tell me what this does? The windlass is a quick, cant find any operators manuals of this vintage.

If anything to go by, this manual pg. 74 suggests the MAIN is for power to the swith panel.

Thanks for the answer, I'm now guessing there is a problem with the windlass latching solenoid as the windlass controls in the cockpit and remote foot switches are always active. according to the wiring diagram in your link the windlass controls should only be active when the main toggle switch has been pressed, effectively its a complicated on/off switch for windlass.
