Read this at one sitting today - it's not very long.
Not a traditional seamanship manual as you might think from the title but rather a book that directly addresses the nature of seamanship and the reasons why we go to sea. Not wholly successful in it's endeavours but the only book I can think of which tackles these subjects head-on and a very interesting read as a result.
As I read I became aware that "Why do we sail?" is a question not discussed in much depth on sailing forums.
