This early summer I am planning a road trip around the Scottish highlands (upwards from Loch Lomond - westish). To my shame trip well overdue as never been that far into Scotland so looking forward to it. I have plenty of room in the car and I have a 2.4 inflatable with a Temo outboard. Any reason why it wouldn't be sensible to bung it in the car and explore a loch or 2? If not too daft then be great to get some recommendations for pootering about - best ones easiest launch points any to avoid etc

cheers

Don't assume that Scottish Lochs are placid lakes. Winds coming down off the mountains can deliver severe gusts at Loch level - which be "entertaining".

Loch Morar is the deepest loch in Scotland, however there are quite a few reefs just under the surface, but it is a beautiful lace to explore many islands and sheltered bays, it's been a while since I was there though, more then 50 years!
Loch Lomond is where I have my Scottish home, there can get up some good waves on the Loch, plus you have to register the boat and driver to go on the loch.
Lots of the lochs in the far north are stocked with trout and you need a permit to go on them, my brother and I used to go fly fishing up there, many a trout has been had :)
We had a 12ft clinker built boat with a 1.5hp inboard engine towed it anywhere and even circumnavigated Lismore in her but again that was 50 years ago.
