I wish I was talking about the fairer sex, but I mean the SAR (vintage) apparatus.

I no longer have it or access to it but as a youngster I loved the way a yellow aerial flipped out and extended ( to me it seemed like 6 feet but the Internet tells me less than 2 metres).

I don’t think we had the battery to go with it (probably fortunate) but it was a lot of fun.

How things have moved on since then - Epirbs etc.

Being a youngster was so much more fun than being an adult.

You've had the luck to live through times when development moved at an extreme pace.
Remember the leaps between car models? First computer? Digital wristwatch? Pocket calculator? Transistor radio? Telefax? PC? Mobile (drag-able) telephone?

Lots and lots made us all stare, not believing what we saw.

A complete change has happened. From days where needs were identified and someone came up with a solution, to a world where products are "invented" and pushed into unwanting markets, then for marketing to invent the need.

Crazy, IMO. Leads to sooo much waste.
