Just been watching one on sailing uma on boat electrics. Interested to hear forumites views on other good utube vids on electrics or other topics-not anchors or course- but things like sola panel choice etc.

I just watched that one as well. I went over to their blog to see if there was any more information, in particular how many watts of solar they have. I didn't find a number but I presume they are using two domestic standard panels so around 550-600w total.
What I found interesting was that their costing for the two panels, charge controller, and bimini mounting, was $400. This is in line with what I expect to spend for a similar setup. Lots of other people seem to be spending far more than that, which was making me worried I was under-budgeting and had missed some important information somewhere.

Ryan and Sophie did a fairly comprehensive video about their refit costs which were in a different league altogether. I suppose people just spend the budget they can afford. Fortunately it looks like even cheapskates like me will be OK given how much prices of solar panels etc have fallen.

The uma battery bank was pretty meaty, but against the cost, mess, noise and servicing requirements of a diesel engine I could see the attraction.
Maybe more so in sunnier climes though.

I watch Free Range Sailing and Sailing Project Atticus

Both small old boats, always fixing things and going into how they do it in some detail. Free Range Sailing did a few videos on epoxy, filler, and GRP some time ago - very informative and well explained.

I'm really upset - I don't watch sailing vids, they bore me to tears - and the few I do watch are on manufacturers anchoring vids but only for educational reasons in case I need to take up a career selling snake oil or fridges to Inuits.:)

Sorry I cannot help

I have watched Delos, Vagabond, Dylan winter and Frenchman in the past but now occasionally watch good bad ugly plus some others. The trouble with most is that the video side takes over from the sailing and also becomes very profitable which removes the 'make do and mend' side which interests me most. (I forgot to mention 'Another adventure' very resourceful young lady)

Here is the antidote to Mads:

Not that it will teach you much useful about boat work.

It's an off the wall travelogue with possibly the most iffy boat that anyone has paid money to buy - however they are both tough and have already done a lot of hard miles. Strange but true.
All very odd but you have to like them for their quest and keeping at it.

My favourites are:

Dangar Marine for all things broken that need fixing .... https://www.youtube.com/user/DangarMarine
Wind Hippie Sailing .... she has sailing in her blood, look up her childhood and parents ... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnJ3QXRI-whcqJBrW-z_htw
Mads with Sail Life, a hermit that lives and breathes epoxy fumes ..... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5xDht2blPNWdVtl9PkDmgA
Parlay Revival, because my girlfriend met the guys sister in Thailand, the restoration is interesting ...... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYrqanbSklKodK2Onpt6KgA
SV Rusty Junk .. If I ever need to gasp in wonder at what people do with their lives .... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHi7SUCIOXqubV9DYXqEwfQ
Sailing Yacht Zora ... fire damaged steel boat restoration .... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZ05SYliiCbF_0mLNTI4IQg
The Geordie, the Witch and the Wench ... just nuts ... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXzKcD_YBx3upBKjuL9Zn1Q

This chap only has 2 videos, but he is a very good cinematographer. Zero narration, just him chilling out and being French on a small boat in the North Sea. Crepes underway is now a personal goal.

And another antidote. This one isn't going to end well (if it ever gets to the water). SV Rusty Junk.
