Sailing The Nile River

No waterway link between Suez and the Nile. You will have to transit the canal to Port Said and hook left to Mina Dumyat or Rosetta (Rashid).
Its a long way from the Delta to Luxor. Take lots of Immodium.

I dont have any charts for the area yet. I will be sailing the Med heading for the red sea. My wife wondered if it would be possible to go and see the Egyptian sites while we were there. I would rather sail up the Nile if it is possible.

There are several places you can leave the boat to do Nile visits - Port Fouad Yacht Center at the head of the canal- so so security - or Suez Yacht Club at the bottom - good security - anchorage a bit dodgy in southerly winds - but probably the most convenient of them all - Abu Tic marina is excellent at the top of the Red Sea. very secure - very protected and although not quite as convenient has all the facilities to tour Egypt and the Nile from

Have a look at the red sea notes in my web site!!

With the best will in the world I wouldn't leave a boat in Egypt while I did the tourist sights. It might be worth considering putting into Cyprus and taking a ferry over. There's a regular run from Larnaca to Alexandria which is cheap enough and avoids the worry of boat security.
There are also ferries which do a Cyprus-Israel-Alexandria run so your family could take in the Holy Land on the same trip.

promise you can leave the boat in Abu Tic marina 100% as safe as anywhere in Europe. Lots of people do. Suez Yacht Club is also very sophisticated and secure - only slight problem is strong southerly winds push you against the quay and the holding for the bow anchor is not that brilliant but otherwise fine...

You're obviously never going to go. You won't admit it.

You're in denile

My family and I are third generation Militant Atheist. Therefore the so called holy land is not on the agenda. However I take your point of doing it by ferry from Cyprus.
The Suez yacht club sound ok I have big anchors and lots of them.
As Far as Denial is concerned it is vastly underrated.
