Sailing boat max 8m LOA. Bear with me

Anyone mentioned MG Spring 25 yet? Quite an achievement to fit an aft cabin, a sugar scoop stern and standing headroom into a 25ft boat I reckon.

Yes as mentioned before, Hunter did that with the Horizon 23, and also look at the Jaguar 24. They were the 2 boats on our short list in many ways very similar. Our must have's were standing head room. Sleeping for 4, Galley and enclosed heads.

Apparently back in the late Victorian era there was enough shipping waiting around for tides in the Bristol Channel that it was viable to run a pub on Steep Holme island. As the clientele were all sailors and the pub was well beyond the reach of the law, it was a pretty rowdy place, so the landlord kept a pet bear to help out at last orders or in case of trouble.

And dare I suggest if you want an 8 mtr boat with good engine and sails that has any chance to sell in the future then look no further than a Twister 28 currently looking for a new owner for not much more than a £1 coin. Yes she is wooden, yes she will need continuous work. and yes she will cost you some money, but your have lots of fun.

Frances 26 or Victoria 26 if want traditional looking GRP.

Friend has a Griffon Mk II which is enormous down below for it's size and sails OK but doesn't track very well (bilge keel version).

I sailed MG Springs too and probably the best sailing performance for your money but a little too plastic down below for my liking.

Freeward or Fisher 25 if you want something extremely solid!

Took the words from my mouth. If I was looking for a small performance boat that is still a full size cruising yacht for a couple I would look no further.

Slanty side decks though are not to everyone’s taste but otherwise the boat is immaculate.

The 8m limit is non negotiable, so that is 26’4” I believe. The reason is that Hamble River moorings for boats of up to 8m are reasonably available. Above that size, less so. But yes the MGspring is a good idea I shall have a look. And that Freeward! Quite badly neaped, though, in Driffield. Also the Griffin.
thank you
