If you don't know which of the special classes you're in and haven't got an IRC rating then you must be ISC Handicap - The Island Sailing Club will work it all out for you. If you end up in group C, see you on the line (start or finish)!

Incidentally last year an identical boat to us, except they weren't using a spinnaker beat us by about 10 minutes and came about 150 places higher up. I blame it on the gallons of beer the crew insisted on carrying (obviously not the fact we were rubbish) but from a handicap point of view is it worth declaring a spinnaker? (Too late, I already have for this year)

Greetings from the USA, where I am incarcerated in an office building again.

I don't know if you've seen this yet? The ISC class is for the less serious racer and has nearly half the boats in it. They split us up further based on handicap.

I hope to be there again this year, though probably without a spinnaker this time.

If the new boat makes it from America in time, and we can commission and launch, we will be there. If I can get an IRC rating through we will probably be in Class 1, otherwise we'll have to go the ISC route - but I'm sure they would struggle to rate the boat.

The plan is to weigh and measure the boat and sails before shipping from the US so that the cert is ready on arrival in the UK.

Now, where IS the Varvassi?

Steve,

many thanks mate. Look forward to it. We have a cruising chute - does the handicap apply to that too. As I said its our first time so we are looking forward to it very much.

see you on the line if not in the solent in the mean time. We go out most weekends from Langstone now the boat is back in the water. went all through the winter last year and virtually had the solent to ourselves!!!!! bit like that at the moment.
