Too late, this has already been done by several nations. The vehicles are known as the USV (unmanned surface vehicle) a quick google will reveal the US Spartan, and The Israeli Rafael vehicles amongst others.

UK used USVs for mine clearance in the Gulf

There is already a large body of work in how unmanned vehicles work in both IRPCS and in the air environment.



Similar work is also going on for unmanned ground vehicles (robocop?????)
