I'm replacing my rigging screws.Problem is,bronze open body ones are very expensive so I was tinking that to make up for the loss in strength or possibly quality I could fit closed body screws from a reputable maker(such as Blue Wave) but one side up.I know that open body rigging screws are the way to go but I've been spendig way too much on the boat already.Opinions welcome.
Thanks.

be careful!!! my blue wave turn buckles i have all suffered from crevice corrosion in the threads, three of mine have failed completely, i believe there was a thread previously that said that these fittings are not made specifically for the marine environment, yes open bodied turnbuckles are more expensive, but what price your mast coming down? i am now converting to open bodied bronze turn buckles, yes they don't look as trendy as the all stainless variety but i have been informed by people i know who have thousands more seamiles than me that bronze also suffers from less galling of the threads. PS all my fittings failed flush with the tubular body and when inspected had obviously been cracked for some time..........keith
