We have been anchored off Skopelos for the last few days.

There have been some vicious thunderstorms. The weather is a bit too miserable (and dangerous with the lightning) to go ashore and I had no idea things were so bad on the island.

I hope everyone is OK.

On Skyros, we had some Bf 5, but not in Linarias, which is singularly well protected.
We did have 48 hours of rain, frequently torrential, lots of lightning, probably about 50-60 cm rain, which washed the road, into the harbour, onto the ferry apron.
The harbour itself was brown with sediment, during the two days.

Greece have had it fair share of storm this year , places where it was considered easy sailing area, like the ionian, has caught a lot of people out this year.
We have been sitting in Monemvasia for a while now waiting for a weather window to head west around the southern end, may get our chance tomorrow.
This morning has I write this we have thunder and lighting over head torrential rain and strong winds, the sky has turned to a dark gray to almost darkness.
Let's hope it's better for our trip tomorrow.
While on the subject of Monemvasia, there are now charging in the Harbour.

I was told that was a tax not a fee, but hey its all money........

It's about 8 euros for 12'mts but if your along side it's 25% more , which is a bit crazy because in the Harbour you can only moor side on.
On the outer pontoon where you can moor stern or bow given more room for everyone people will insis in mooring side on , nearly every night now the PP have arrived to move boats.
Fun and games at time , one charter boat tryed to raft onto the lifeboat .

We heard yesterday that Kos marina and town quay were hit hard, 60 knots of wind and many boats wrecked. As if the migrants didn't have it hard enough already, it seems the area their tents were pitched in when we passed a few weeks ago, all around the shore line between the two, was flooded to a depth of a metre.

Spectacular lightning on Leros and some rain but wind remained relatively light.

We arrived in Skopelos Town yesterday. The quays incl the yacht quay are now open and ferries are running. The Army are here helping with the clear up. The businesses around the harbour are all open but those up the Main Street out of town have been devastated by flood water and will take months to recover. There are still cars in the harbour and several by the side of the road which will never run again. To add to their woes we're in the middle of another thunderstorm with more torrential rain.

“Manouli Too”, a Sun Odyssey 45.1 was hit by lightning Saturday morning right after the start of a race in front of Piraeus. No victims apart from electrics and electronics. Fellow racers talked of a spectacular incident. Someone even mentioned a brief lived fireball at the top of the mast.
