Re: amazed

Thank you all.

Been in meetings all morning, after the shock, work buddies are all now very supportive. It feels good to be alive today. Going with eyes wide open, no rose tints, but now very excited. Wahaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!
Is this really me doing this? I am amazed its now well and truly under way. Worked hard for things I don't really need, although the house and flat are paying for it. We are renting not selling so there is a safety net. I think I will get bored in the tropics so plan to keep mooving then head further north. I need to do some form of work so it will be photography and sailing. just don't feel the need to be "a millionaire" any more. (Thatchers child you see). Think I would like to teach for a while. Sorry I'm rambling.............feel slightly drunk.

Re: Curious.

Sailing expensive??

I had a two week sail from fleetwood to western isles
in mid eighties......spent forty quid.....one mooring fee (Crinnan....we nearly shot him)..........boat cost 5k had for 11 years
spent nothing on it.......it's all a myth

unless I suppose you sail around south coast

Re: Curious.

Crikey Gordon, I was about to say welcome to the forum, 7 posts in 10 months, no need to be economical with the forum as well as the boat, this is for free! What kind of boat was it and what did you eat?

Re: Curious.

I would say yes totally .
There are times when I work very hard normally to achieve some thing I want badly .
The real trick way back when I became self employed was knowing I could never be worse off than I already was .
I worked for a plant hire company the wages were crap .
We had a miserable xmas because of poverty so I decided right that's it what's the point of working my nuts off to make some one else rich while I cant afford to even feed my family properly. So even if I only had a weeks work then nothing for another week then hey think about the freedom.
I don't have an expensive life style so that helps .
You should see the smile on my face .

Re: Curious.

Good on you mate, I have a similar approach to life, I dont mind too much that the wine I drink was on special and my boat is quite old.I do buy the occasional lottery ticket though.(simple minded as well as simple living).

Not at all

We are off soon too as you know. Hubby retires on Friday, he is air traffic controller and has worked here for the last 21 years, done 35 in ATC in all, as he is a civil servant, we got a letter asking if we'd like some silver spoons as a gift, we said yes, then we got another letter asking us for £17.00 towards the gift with the explanation 21 years @ £15.00= £17 short, did we want the money instead - we took the money! I think you are very wise to resign.
