Replacing standing rigging on a Tamarisk 29

Way back in the 70's I was using Talurite swagings on galvanised wire for mooring current meters. The instruments were deployed for a lunar month then moved to a new location. After two or three months use the swagings were looking somewhat corroded and I would replace the wire. While your swagings have a protective sleeve over them, depending on the metal there may be a galvanic action between the swaging and the ss wire hence your surveyors reservations.

If you have to replace the wire making a mast band should simplify re-rigging.

The ideal would be to use flexible wire (not 1x19) and have the eyes hand spliced and served, as they were on my sloop's forestays mentioned earlier. Both a trad look and giving the rig a long working life. The problem is finding someone to do neat splices, though they are a requirement for the MN Efficient Deck Hand certificate.

Just as an update I have found a rigger who is making me a stainless steel mast band (in two parts). I have cut the existing stays down and am awaiting the mast band and new stays. Many thanks to everyone on this thread who offered advice its really useful.
