I'm totally stuck. My faithful, dependable Nexus 10 has died. I tried changing the battery and it now won't switch on at all - I've had it to bits several times!! So I need a new tablet and am totally baffled by what's on offer.
The Nexus 10 did everything I wanted and asked it to do. VMH charts and Marine Navigator plotter, Weather fax and Navtex apps, Windyty, and then the usual tides, news and weather stuff. I also used Google Drive to store all the boat manuals, almanac, links to repairs on here etc.,etc., on it. At home I mainly use it for surfing the internet and emails, and maybe the odd download of the F1 GP and sailing utube videos. I rarely use it out in the cockpit and use a MIFI to connect to the internet when on board. That's about all I use it for.
I'm assuming that I can retrieve some stuff off the Nexus by using Google Back up. And I assume I'll need an Android operating system and it's what I'm familiar with. I prefer a 10" screen.
So what should I get? I've thought about buying a replacement on eBay and that's still an option but I won't know what state the battery is in and might end up with the same predicament in a month's time. I was also looking at a Galaxy S2 but there are so many different kinds I've just lost it!!!
Using the wisdom of the forum and bearing in mind Black Friday deals are coming up soon can "you" put forward suggestions as to what I should be looking for and what will suit me best please. I don't particularly like the iPad if one of those might be suitable and budget isn't that important but I don't like wasting money. Buying a top of the range model is definitely out. I should add that the nearest PCW / phone shops are around 40 miles away and aren't all that we'll stocked so popping isn't an option.
Many thanks for your thoughts.
Mike
