Renovating Anchor Windlass

I am in the process of renovating a Hyspeed 510 anchor windlass. The gypsy has gone a bit rusty in parts and I was wondering what the best way to smarten it up would be. Would galvanising be the best way forward or is there some other coating that would be durable enough.

Any advice appreciated

I don't know the Hyspeed 510 ..... but the gypsy should surely be bronze and therefore any rust should be from the chain.

If it is ferrous then you need to consider the clutch cone if you end up galvanising it .... the cone surfaces need to be smooth.

I would consider just cleaning up the gypsy if it is indeed going rusty. Apply lots of grease frequently to avert more rust. good luck olewill
