I received a marketing email today from Red Ensign brokers in Falmouth. I never heard of them before and I've certainly never contacted them. I'm curious how they got my email address. Is it legal in the UK to send unsolicited marketing emails?

I think, but am not sure, that unsolicited approaches are only illegal in the finamcial area ie flogging financial products. Other emails are no more than simple adverts and you get loads of these through all sorts of routes.
