Hi Big Spender.... and believe me you will be to recondition a Volvo engine.

I can't help with the MD1.

However I did a complete (everything) rebuild on my MD2002B twin cylinder 18hp last winter and it certainly makes Porsche spares look cheap.

Including a 15% Discount top & bottom gasket sets, + Saildrive Doughnut, & Workshop Manual cost. £408
Including a 15% Discount 2 pistons cost £355.86
Including a 15% Discount Big end bearings for 2 journals cost £73

And that was just the tip of the iceberg.

The parts and basic Machining cost £1,500 with 15% discount but the labour was free ... it was me!!

There should be a government health warning on all Volvo Penta spare Parts packaging "These Can Seriously Damage Your Wealth".

Sorry I'm not a lot of help....... Have Fun......... Me.

Obtaining any replacement parts should you need them (other than basic services items) will be your problem, this engine and it relatives has been out of production for a long time - many "spares" are now only reconditioned second hand parts themselves. Be prepared for the posibility that it will not be possible or ecconomic to recondition this engine.

Good luck, Jeff.

J&N MacDonald are your local Volvo agents.
They have an address in Glasgow and also have premises at Kip Marina.
Make sure they offer you a seat when they hand you the estimate.

Good luck

Donald
