As someone who sails a lot on other peoples boats & also charters sometimes, I am considering buying a personal EPIRB.
Any suggestions ?
Cheapest suppliers?

We carry around a McMurdo PLB, when they did a recall last year (?) they seemed to handle things pretty well...
Its compact, well made, clear instructions. Very reassuring for guests/wife as its a very easy way to call for help, just in case I fall off/get whacked/ etc. Ours is the GPS type.

Kinda difficult to recomend a Epirb unless youve used one, then I guess if you are still around to make a recomendation, its always going to be positive!!

http://www.sartech.com/ seem to have a reasonable range of EPIRBs and PLBs - and they list the battery replacement prices.

Hmm, the Kannad 406 XS-2 GPS (299+vat) appears to have fallen off their website since I last looked...

I've not bought one, yet.

WOW where from fastfind plus is GPS version... just checking the new price list which came through today - its normally £474!

Non GPS is now £307 for those interested - might get one of these to go in my grab bag
