Hi all, we're installing this ourselves and have issues. Raymarine tech support have helped so far and replaced the ACU controller unit as it wasn't sending power to the ram. Replacement works fine.
Then when we linearized the compass we got a deviation of 25°, under the 45° mentioned in the book, and on auto track it turned us in a port circle only. Support said it was the high deviation due to the position of the sensor so today we shifted it and now have deviation of 6° which we have locked. BUT we're still only steering in port circles, will call tech again on Monday.
Has anyone experienced issues like this with these beasts? I need confidence in it even if we get it working. I don't have that ATM.

And the answer is, when the test ram instructions say ' press OK then does the tiller move to port' it really means does the boat turn to port! The polarity for the ram was therefore the wrong way round

Hi Jane, I had the same issue with polarity. I think you will find the instructions say “does the rudder move to port?” It is easy to get confused as the first thing you see is the tiller moving - but as we all know, this is the opposite way to the rudder! If you get it wrong the symptoms are exactly as you describe, immediate turn full lock to port. The kit is great once you sort it out 🙂

From memory the instructions (some years ago) ask about the rudder movement not which way the boat/tiller move. Took some time to realise the easy error of answering the question was about the RUDDER movement. Maybe the instructions are different on later models.
