I need a new plotter for the upper helm and also need to replace my radar. I have a raymarine C80 at the lower helm which I'll leave alone though I understand it won't be compatable with the new radome. I'm happy with the 7" screen size of either the A78 or E7 plotters and would probably like to trunnion mount so I can remove for security (presumably it can just be unplugged or is it more complicated?) Does anyone have one of the above or can advise what advantages one has over the other, as far as I can see the A78 is touch control only but it has the option of downvision, is this worth having?
I like the idea of the wi-fi capability allowing an ipad to provide a second screen, hopefully this would give me a radar display at the lower helm, can anyone advise how reliable this is?
A Raymarine dealer advised a while back and they suggested buying a seatalk 1 module, presumably this will allow the plotter to link to ST60s/ tridata etc, do I need anything else?
Not confident at all on installation of this kit, would appreciate any recommendations of suitable installers in clyde area.
