This winter's project is to fit a radar. For the amount of time it is likely to be used , one cross channel trip per year, I am thinking about fitting a JRC 1000. Are they any good?

Or is it worth spending the extra on a Furuno or Raytheon?

I have never used one I should add.

Heard only good stuff about the JRC's. I am using a Raytheon and guess what after having had a look under the "hood" --- JRC inside :))). Objects in the rear view mirror may be closer than they appear.

My boat was fitted with JRC 1500 when l bought it earlier this year, having never used one before l found it fairly straight forward to get the hang of. Read the manual a few times, then sat on a mooring and played with it. Definately a useful tool. The ideal place for the display would be where the helm could see it but no where to put it on mine so its below at the table.
