Anyone know if there's a spare ladder knocking about to borrow for a night?

I'll be getting back to the boat late, left when the boat was still on the crane so didn't have time to sort out access. Got a key card for the gate though.

Ta.

So looking forward to some sardines :)

E-mail or phone Joanna & ask if Chico could leave one out by your boat. Failing that I have one which my mast is resting on which we can sort. What day, ETA & boat name ?

Bad news for you. Sardines this year ain't good. Very small & tasteless. Plenty available because the locals won't touch them. PM me if I can help further.

I'll be back tonight, boat is conachair, stashed somewhere in there, I ran for the airport while she was still on the crane . Emailed Joana so hopefully won't have to do the familiar scramble up the transom when I get in.
Devastating news about sardines, looking forward to platefuls of them has been all that's kept me going for months working on site.. ;)
Oh well, hopefully the casal garcia vino verde is still available as a staple :)

Thanks

No worries :)
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news on the sardine front. :)
Wife assures me your vinho verde tipple is still available in Pingo Doce & in Jumbo.
Will check later when the yard closes that they have left a ladder out. If not then
will find one & leave it by your stern.

Looks like they've sent the best north a few miles, SWMBO says the ones around here (Alges) are excellent and agrees with you that Faro ones were rubbish.

Even if the sardines area bit skinny ;)

Joana just emailed back, a ladder shall be waiting. Living up a ladder yet again, never mind :)

If you are in need of milk tea bread water etc etc just say as we are going up to Pingo later this afternoon. No problem as wife has one of those Sholley trollies.

The ones in Olhao last Sat seemed ok to me, Culatra the week before ok too. Maybe I'm just not a connoisseur! I'll be in Bruce's in a couple of weeks, hope they will have improved by then.

Hi all - sorry to jump in on a thread but my own would basically use exactly the same heading!
My dad and I are hoping to move a 30 footer (pioneer 9) round to Bruce's before the end of the year. she's currently in Portimao and needs to be made seaworthy ( a couple of trips' work) and then will be ready to be moved.
The first question is whether anyone might be able to give my dad a quick tour of the place when he comes in late Sep, and the second is a bit of an ask- we are going to need to grind back a bulkhead for reinforcing and it's tricky to get the tools down by easyjet! Are there any facilities for tool hire, or does Bruces' have a culture of lending things out?
I guess also I would be interested in people's feelings about Bruce's as an over-winter location. I would be flying down for long weekends from Liverpool to try and get some sailing in over the next few months- is regular lifting in/ out realistic?

Thanks for reading- I didn't expect this to be so long!

Excellent place to winter and work, have been using for 10 years. 20 mins by bus from the airport or around 10 mins and 10 euro by taxi to the gate. Joanna, Bruce's daughter, runs the office and will show you around in his absence. No tools for hire in the yard but there's an Aki (similar to B & Q) close by with cheap own brand tools including grinders, no problem exchanging under guarantee when they burn out:)

The yard closes for a month from first week in December. No vehicular access & no hoist.
PM me if I can assist further. :)

Thanks everyone.
Graham- great tips, thanks, I'll keep our receipts!
Ludd- Yeah I saw the fees for lift in / out so it might just be a place to work on it then find another mooring locally when I know we will have a bit more time. It does sound like a decent yard and the access is great from Faro, but I wonder if something slightly wetter might be worth a look. I'm aiming to get as much work/ sailing as I can over winter and then ideally bring her back to the UK over spring/ summer via a couple of stops in N. Spain and France.
Sandyman- thanks! there goes Christmas sailing plan then...

Cheers!
