Ian Harrison from Bluewater Marine says he was left embarrassed when he led a business trip around the marina over the Bank Holiday break.

He said: “We had an invitation weekend for Fairline boats, where we had clients from all over the North West of England trying the boats and to have a look at the marina and surrounding area. But it was embarrassing to have to explain why a boat was stuck in the middle of the channel to a marina which boasts supposed 24-hour access.

“The entrance to the channel is fast becoming a deathtrap, with hardly enough room to manoeuvre in and out because it’s been narrowed so much.

Council is like most "expert at doing nothing quickly" or "burying their heads in silt".

We now have large commercial craft passing between two trots of boats to avoid Skipper Stu's mud berth. It wont be long before there is a head on .

Please, if you are a less experienced pleasure craft owner do not be tempted to do the same especially in a cross wind.

Medium term plan is to pull out 10 piles at a loss of 60k potential income

Council thinking being that everybody on piles will want to spend twice as much a year to take up the 50 empty spaces in a marina that you cant get to most of the time.

What is welsh for MARINA FOR SALE CHEAP because for sure they will have to sell it next year when it is deserted and running at a big loss.

Aberystwyth isn't exactly packed, and at about £3k for 31ft isn't exactly cheap so perhaps there will be two for sale soon maybe?

Di you see the article in this Months Motor boat and Yanking that I had a hand in.
Seems the council are of the view that the empty berths are due to economic reasons.
Although they wont admit to a silting issue they are going to do something about it next season.

Gate, Horse and Bolted come to mind.

The silt has done the Job the daft ideas Welsh language protesters were trying to put forward when the Marina was going to expand!
Mud in the Councils eye!

Pwllheli trot pile moorings

We are also on the trot pile moorings and have vessels coming up the piles behind us to get through when there is insufficient water in the channel - on Bank Holiday Friday night, we spent the evening trying to help racing yachts coming in on a falling tide in the dark.

We watched with horror when a Moody careered down between the moored yachts taking glancing blows as she went.

Another interesting point is that the whole harbour is now being managed by the marina.

Caid a gaig y cymraeg

Sorry for the title fellas but as usual you lot are thread stealing/drifting...:D.

Joy Bennet PM sent

Do I need to leave my fenders out then?:(

We are probably one of the few that regularly sleep overnight on board attached to the piles.

We have had quite a few close encounters during the night.

It seems all those green and red illuminations are not enough.

If the lifeboat launches and uses the same narrow exit then we are in deep trouble. I have been tipped out of my bunk twice by them when they use the more normal route.

Please dont burn my boat I am only a second generation colonist:)

Sais gog?

Nos da
Steve
