Putting a curve in a boat name

Custom car builders, panel beaters or companies that roll and form steel sheet can bend single axis or compound curves. I would look there.

Does anyone know of a company who would be able to put a curve in a stainless steel boat name for one of my customers?

Thanks

Which way would you wish to curve the stainless steel boat name.

If its in the direction of the thickness it could be rolled to the required curve but if its in the direction of the lettering / Hight of the letter the best way would be to have it laser cut in a curve required

Am I missing something here ?

With no intent to be rude / upset or insult .... doesn't first post include link to Stainless Steel names ? If offering 'bespoke' service - would this not be a part of ? Especially that it does say - Laser Cut as well ...

Sorry if I appear to have missed something .

What thickness is the stainless?

Just thinking that a simple bench roller may be enough to curve them

e.g. https://www.rdgtools.co.uk/cgi-bin/...LIP-ROLLS---2.5MM-CAPACITY-62484.html#SID=239

I know they state 1mm in stainless but I am assuming the letters arent going to be very wide so should roll

We have one of the above and have put gentle curves in 3mm mild steel with it, could probably beef one up to take thicker materials if required

Thanks all for the comments.

It's actually pretty rare that they need to have a curve put in them. And my customers come from all over the place so it's not practical or cost effective for me to take accurate measurements. Consequently, I only supply the letters in their flat state and ask customers to have a curve put in them locally.

As you'd expect, I do have a few customers from the Solent for whom it would be useful to have a company local to them who could do the bending.

So you are trying to curve just small letters. Tricky with rollers.
I would curve the steel strip first then laser cut the letters out.

Most laser MC cutting machines need a flat plate to cut profiles in stainless steel. I had this issue some time ago and ended up cutting using a hand held plasma cutter.

If the OP has individual letters positioning then on a curves hull of a boat would not need much curvature.
