I’ve really enjoyed reading about the trip, and have been inspired to push myself more.
The rate of your progress has surprised me at times and is a real achievement.

Early on in your journey I started to think how I would cope with the all engrossing nature of such a trip, and how I would deal with the decompression back into life ashore, a bit akin to PTSD or Stockholm Syndrome. I know I would find it difficult to readjust back to Civvy street, I wish you the best.

Just come across this thread. Well done. I watched your video of sailing to Brixham from Newlyn. It made me want to get another yacht, maybe a westerly....
Great achievement ?

I am looking forward to getting home now. There have been family problems whilst I have been away that I have escaped from. My mother in law has advanced dementure and has just been put in a care home and my father in law has some other issues and may also be going the same way. My wife has almost excluded me from these problems and mostly I have to chat with my daughter to find out what has been happening. So once I get home I will get a lot of rest and will still have to share these problems with my wife. Life is never easy and the end of life period can be traumatic. I doubt if I will have time to realise I am adjusting to "normal" life. Shortly after I return I know we are taking a break in our mobile home in Cheshire to see our daughter and grandson. This will certain be part of the relaxation and unwind period. This should allow me some time to edit some video of the trip and relive those days again.

I am sorry to hear of the dementure, my friend who attended the SBS with me when we met has just sadly buried his father at 90plus years and so I have a small insight into the worries occassioned by such illness to the family. All I can say is I trust you continue to report on your travels and maybe feel able to do a few lectures etc to yacht clubs etc once rested . Your writing style very much mirrors your personality and I’m sure there a good few more accounts left in you of your travels be they be by sea or land.

Just been reading another thread and agreed with the content. Guess who also agreed? None other than the person who I put on ignore. He is no longer on ignore. So he is off the naughty step.

That would be me then. How rum.

I do indeed support you and feel abject apologies are seldom required, nor do I generally go in for explanations. However, you misread my original post, I should have made the intent more obvious and need to handle irony with more care. It was just a fun fact nothing more. I am the last person to join in with any witch hunters on a public forum, In general I despise them.

It's a grand illustration of how blunt written word is as a tool, certainly in the shortened form we have to use in these places. I actually gave your ban a "Like" ? not from contempt but because I thought you were sharing the joke.
Anyway, water under the bridge, you can be very proud of your achievements.

Sort of off topic but was deeply involved in HC proceedings for several years involving our grandson. Because I am profoundly deaf, remote communication with me has to be by text or email. Countless times what I’d written was presented in Court and argued/discussed by various people until it bore no resemblance or meaning to how I’d intended it to be read & considered. The written word & spoken word are two different beasts!

This will be my final post in this thread.

Yesterday I was at the Boat Show again and feeling a lot happier after a good night's sleep. As you might expect, I was talking to lots of people on stands and other boat owners. This kept me occupied all day. At the close of the show I was looking over the marina and videoed the closing when all the boats sounded their horns. Unlike last year, the show closed at 5 not 6, so there was no cruise ship leaving who's passengers thought the horns were for their benefit. Last night I decided to eat at the Gaff Rigger, the marina restraurant.

Currently I am waiting for some potential Fulmar owners to arrive to see Concerto and check it is the type of boat they want to own. This morning has been spent tidying the interior a bit, so I am keeping busy. Still have to find a home for the 3 new solar panels I bought at the show.

Tomorrow I am setting sail for Eastbourne. For this leg a fellow Fulmar owner is coming with me as he wants to see how I sail mine and all the things I have done to make it easier to sail.

Will post a new thread late tomorrow night.
