Think you do need some paperwork for boat and engine, just not VAT stuff. Hence the suggestion re RYA.
Needs to be registered (eg SSR) and our rescue RIBs were warned by officials due to.lack of ensign and courtesy flag!
When sailing back from Holland to Belgium my wife protested about me putting up a courtesy Dutch Flag while still in The Netherlands.
Is it a mandatory thing to have to put one up?

Edit: I do have a photocopy of the VAT declaration in The Netherlands from 1983, boat was built in the UK in 1978 though, and I am the 3rd owner from new.

As I purchased my boat hull from a private nin Vat registered person I did not pay any vat on the purchase of the base boat.

In fitting it out I purchased various parts and equipment that VAT was paid and paying any workmen who did work for me on my boat.

So is anyone wished to see my proof of VAT paid I have a big box with all the invoices for the parts and equipment I paid. VAT for.

So there are various ways the ant tax can be paid so what is "poof of VAT" which is infect a transaction tax.

The issue comes when importing new products and as I did computer programs for the calculating of VAT and duty on import of new products.

Second hand (used goods) where I live need an import permit so what did the correct legal requirement not what the customs authorities claim the requirements to be. In my work with Customs the requirement is to claim (another word) as much money as possible.

On visits to the UK, I purchased items that I paid Vat on and the registered-on export for allow ne to claim the VAT back. I claimed but no refund of VAT ever happened.
