Project Persevere 82 Ft of wooden craftwork

Had to do it here Brendan , this is where it counts , to see a boat as famous (or infamous) as Persevere , returned to her former glory , It's got to be worth it
Thanks all
Dave

Thanks for the number, I'll keep that for when I reach that stage , cheers
On a different note, I have had an e.mail from Mr. Ducker , who is a former Thames Sail Barge skipper, and who is watching developments on the forum .
Welcome to the forum, and please feel free to comment whenever you feel like it
Cheers
Dave

Anyone out there know what the numbers are , apart from the obvious hull number

It's confusing the hell out of me

And if somebody can resize them for me , it would be much appreciated (haven't learnt that yet).

I see someones already resized them - Nice one BrendanS

Its the Net Tonnage where 1 Ton is equal to 100 cubic feet.
Net tonnage is effectively the load carrying space after after all non cargo spaces have been deducted from the Gross Tonnage which is the cubic capacity of the total enclosed area (certain areas are specifically exempt such as machinery space, certified living accomodation etc).
Net Tonnage is usually the tonnage on which port dues etc are charged.

More info HERE

OK , back for more advice , re planer / thicknesser , there seems to be loads on the market , even an almost new one on e bay , but any reccomendations please , I don't want to spend all research time sorting through all the different ones there are , so , who thinks what . And yes I will be taking up the offer to supply , just need to know what I'm after
Thanks everyone
Dave

Hi Dave.
First it depends on you mains supply 240v 1ph or 415 3ph some times 3 ph come cheaper.
I suggest you look for a cast bed floor standing one, not a Tin plate or alum work top cheepo.
An older Wadkin, Sedgewick or Startrite will take care of the heaver work with ease. A good spare set of blades for the eventual finer work will be a bonus. Are there any second hand Tool dealers in your area mind you they will all have there items on ebay if you go for ebay bid at the last min it's a pain you have to be on it end of th auction I put a post about how I bid on ebay and it works:-
see Re: E-Bay virgin #971317 - 01/03/2006 16:57 .

I'm lucky with 3ph here but don't know about on site yet, as NAS suggested will try auctions too , re e,bay , wife is expert now , gets the bid in with about five secs to spare , been doing it for ages . Makes and models of the ones I should go for if possible , the older ones are probably better for what I need

/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif , only just managed to change the old avatar , what do you think to the new one ? and why the name change ? just to confuse me , or did I miss something ?

After Cherbourg last year, when no-one could decide if I was N.A.S. or Nass or Naz.... they decided the easiest course of action was just to not talk to me......

At least thats what I think thats why no-one talked to me... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Seriously, lots of people now using their boat's name.....

Ah , hadn't thought of that , as I think you know , mine is boats name , but it refuses to let me change it without assistance , and I've been hassling him quite a bit already
