Princess X80. Have they just won motor boats?

I also tend to prioritise outdoor space over indoor for the med. Outside space is more important than inside space for us, except the kitchen which has to have enough cupboards. Fridge space also being highly important. I tend to go to Mallorca from April to October and don't tend to go in the winter just to do something different elsewhere. Generally not bothered by Lounge space too much, even less about a table inside to eat. Am even thinking I may move from a flybridge boat to a day boat (well day boatish), with the superhawk 55 a possibility. At that speed could do Mallorca to Ibiza (and back) in a day.

As for the boats over 70 feet, San Lorenzo is def my preference over Sunseeker and Princess. Although they do cost more as well. The San Lorenzo in Southampton was superbly finished. Although I do get why people would buy the X80, if I could afford one I doubt I would buy one.

As for cars, my new fav is the Porsche 991.2 GT3 - great fun to drive. Even prefer it to the latest 992 GT3. Missus hates it though.
Likewise, we only use the ”downstairs“ lounge the few times we visit in winter, it’s great people like different things as it gives more choice, my GT3.2 lasted 3 weeks !……….personally, boating in the U.K. wouldn’t be for me but I can see if I did, a boat with large indoor spaces would be more beneficial than an open deck boat…opposite in the med, in summer we only prepare some meals below deck, all other times we are on deck.

Precisely.
Its all about frolicking about in the sea .Late in the season sea temp still 25 *C

Enjoy ( for those who can see it ) :)

Maxing out on Interior space ….Yeh right !

Porto why do you think that everything the Italians produce is the best thing in the world? Being Italian I can fully confirm their styling is terrible, their sense of taste is terrible for decoration etc and their workmanship is shoddy. How have you got so far removed from reality? Next thing you'll be telling us that sports fishers are a great idea/design

their military uniforms have nice hats though, and they dip bread in oil which is surly the height of sophistication. I tried a slice of sunblest in some spry crisp n dry ………. didn’t get it to be honest

:)
But, I love the idea/concept.
Perhaps you could get Princess to think along the same lines???
Not the internal stairs (I have one of those) - the Skylounge, I mean.
I suspect the X class will work its way down the line, not sure how far though. It makes for interesting layouts if you don’g need a lower helm position. The Elling range don’t have them but they are more limited in terms of internal volume.

I think they will try an X70 and the styling exercise becomes more difficult.
We have a boat in our marina called Mess (the name is a story) of a German at 70 feet long, she looks to be a prototype of the X-series and the exterior styling outside, is like a match box.
For me it is not pretty....
So I think this styling the more you go down in size the more difficult it becomes.

Interesting.
In other words, you sprayed some industrial pseudo-bread with a rapeseed oil commonly used as a component of diesel fuel, before eating it.
And based on this experience, you feel entitled to judge the sophistication of Italian culinary habits.

Luckily, I don't even need to think how to comment that, 'cause someone else already did very effectively, in less than one minute...

But it was a very low price.

Paolo, joking aside, good Rapeseed oil is rather tasty. And I'd suggest it makes much better roast potatoes than Italian olive oil.

Correct.

Sorry could not understand the video it seemed to be in some language foreign to me. :) ............. What do you think about your Military Hats..... I like them

I had several Italians as employees some time ago. They took me to this Restaurant that served something called Pasta. I ordered a Lasagne. When I asked for some tomato sauce to put on it the waiter seemed to get upset. He did not seen to understand that I was paying so it was my choice..............

Well, you're not rewarding my effort to find a version with the EN subtitles.

Sorry but I'm neither an expert nor interested in uniforms of any kind, hats included.
It seems to me that your cocked hats are also nice anyway, particularly with plume on top.

Next time, try asking him some Sunblest with Crisp 'n Dry.
That would be a good test, because if he threatens to kick you out regardless of how much you're willing to pay, it's a good restaurant worth eating in.
Goes without saying that if he brings you the stuff, you'd better go elsewhere.

Yes it is the Plumes I like also.

I ,am with you on this .
We regularly crack up at the uniforms .

Rishi Sunak at U.K. Treasury and kinda HMRC eat your heart out .

These work collecting tax . Show me some U.K. HMRC staff .

Look @ the guy @ 1:40 to 2:0 ……looks like he’s just walked off the set of “ Gladiator “ :)

Yes I like that hat at 1.40. I am going to try and buy one. I will of course put a Union flag on the top, and sit and eat toad in the hole with my Mate Gino

Long boats are always easier to make look attractive. There was a Horizon Vision 74 at Haslar for a long time and it was eventually put up for sale. A kind of cross between an American fishing boat and the X80 but obviously much more traditional styling. I always had a soft spot for the thing on the basis it offered lots of internal accommodation. A also think there will be a circa 70 foot X class at some point in the future. It will be interesting to see how that turns out if it happens. For me the X80 is a better boat than the X95 so who knows.

What makes the X80 look better is definitely its more in the tradition all around main deck.

The X95 has a semi widebody forward to accommodate a large master stateroom there.
When you have this which nowadays is very common in yachts in between 25 to 30 meters you get a more visually challenged profile.

The Horizon Vision is more of a cross between an explorer and a euro motor yacht IMO. What can make you think of this as a sportfisher is if has the extended sportfish deck aft.
The 74 has this, as she is a 68 with this option which the first owner requested.

Sorry, I was a bit presumptuous when saying the X80 is better than the X95.

Purely for me I find the 80 more pleasing visually and I feel the designers have worked really hard with the interior space. Every bit has been used and there are some little unexpected treats along the way. The 95 has so much space I almost feel the designers don’t have to work as hard and things are there to try and use it all up.

I know it’s crazy to accuse a boat of having too much space and for the right buyer it’s perfect. You can host a drinks reception or party on board and it’s great. I just don’t host parties like that. I could really see myself on an X80, it would suit my boating needs perfectly with a bit of personalisation.

I think what this thread has made clear is we all have boats for different reasons, what suits one individual will not suit another, Henry, it seems like you need a boat with plenty of space to entertain paying guest’s and get out of the cold if needed, for me in the med, I want open outside space and will only entertain 2/4 friends at a time and am happy with just me and Mrs H cruising and finding new places to drop and stay on anchor.

I suppose with all the car comparisons……….it’s like taking a Rolls Royce on a lads driving holiday, it will do the job you want but it would be more fun in a Ferrari.
