Has anyone from chichester had problems getting more than one sticker for the new entry system? I was told in the office on sunday that only one car per berth is aloud on site now

Oh no not another premier marina that’s gone this way, I had to work at Swanwick recently, the pass the office gave me didn’t work to access the car park , stupid system that just doesn’t work , had to be let in and out by the security man who totally agreed with me what a waste of time and money it is.
All just to stop people parking when the visit the onsite companies including the bar and in my view would put me off going to the marina if I wasn’t a berth holder , which isn’t good for business.

My parking pass works with no problems at Swanwick so, perhaps, you're just unlucky, Paul!! :encouragement:

Also, we get two passes per bertholder at Swanwick, so I'm sure the same would be the case at Chichester....suggest the OP discusses this with the Marina management.

We have two cars, and may go to Chi in either. As these windscreen sticker passes presumably stay affixed to the car, I cannot believe they will not issue you with two. Makes no sense not to.

So what happens if you have six people or more to stay on the boat, Is there alternative free parking for another vehicle

Well, you better believe it, because it's true. I collected mine this afternoon, and was only "allowed" one, whereas for the same reasons as yourself, I'd like two.

When queried, I was told that the situation would be reviewed in due course. I could see that the the girl on the desk knows it's nuts, but couldn't agree with me, because, no doubt, Premier tell her not to.

The fob readers have been removed, although you do still need a fob to access the showers etc..

Thanks for all your replies, Just found the updated regulations on premier chichester website, valid from 1 march 2018.
Your thoughts appreciated.

CAR PARKING
19.1 A valid berthing licence entitles Owners to park one car at the marina when using their boat or on-site services. This entitlement does not guarantee that a space will be available and spaces will be allocated on a fi rst come* first served basis. Additional vehicles can be parked with advanced agreement of the marina manager.
Owners agree that The Company may record and use the vehicle registration number to calculate any relevant parking charge and to enforce these regulations. This includes the right to request the details of a vehicle’s registered keeper from the DVLA.

It really narks me that these companies are happy to take a large sum of money from you for a mooring but find it a big inconvenience for you and your guests to arrive by car, it’s not like you will arrive in foot is it, seems like they feel their land is too valuable for other uses rather than what it should be used for

I think exactly the same , premier marinas are getting out of touch these days with what people want from there boating experience, it’s all getting too commercial, they seem to want to try and extract every last penny out there berth holders , as a boater and contractor I have first hand experience of this.
Chichester was once a peaceful and tranquil place, about the only marina left where you felt it is an old style boatyard .
Maybe in out of touch with the world , it sure was a nice place in the 80/90s , now it’s along with all the others is a commercial venture for the share holders. The fact they will try and apply a parking charge makes it feel like Tesco and Morrison’s even more.

Look at the plans for Mercury , another marina that will be spoilt , Swanwick is due for more commercial buildings I notice on FB , I’ve also heard yesterday that Northney is up for a revamp knocking down the existing workshops and offices in favour of more building to let to tenants , watch this space as they say.

Just checked Swanwick's new T&C's valid from 01/03/18, and the same clauses regarding parking are included, so it looks like this is a Corporate decision.......it'll be interesting to see if/how they will enforce it??!!

Parking at Shamrock quay has cameras, your allowed 3 hours then you get £100 fine , I do t know anyone who has had the fine but parking wars are all over the TV and press, the council and police can and will win but private companies only issue what’s in effect an invoice as they don’t have the power to enforce it only through the courts, I can imagine the effect it might have souring a nice weekend on the boat with your friends then them getting the fine on the mat the week after.

Chichester does have parking in a car park outside the barriers for visitors. A pleasant walk away from the pontoons if you aren't carrying anything but a bit of a schlep if you are. Sufficient to make any guests eagerly anticipating a weekend of boat-based enjoyment look back on the drive down the A27 as a highlight.

I would put money on it, the signs will be made and ready to go up round both marinas by 1 March
I’ve got to a point now where I won’t work in certain marinas no matter how tempting the coin might be , the last thing I want is stress before I’ve set foot on a boat, some of my clients are already fed up with office politics getting me on site with somewhere to park , it’s not worth the aggro , I just don’t understand why all this is going on.

Shamrock quay was plagued with shoppers, workers and football fans parking there, something needed to be done as the site can’t cope but as to why Swanwick and Chichester are coming up with all this parking politics is crazy, it will only put people off even entering the sites. I’ll give you an example , last time I was at Swanwick I had a call, I took the call pulling up alongside 2 parked cars, next minute a bang on the window from office staff shouting at me for parking in an un allocated space, it’s not as if I was leaving the van unattended.
As you can gather as an ex berth holder it’s not one of my favourite places.

I think Shamrock is slightly different from the other cases mentioned here as they had a real issue with 'outsiders' parking there and going into town and especially on St Mary's match days and if you are legit and check in there seems to be no issue.

BTW within certain restrictions 'parking charge notices' (ie nvoices) can be enforced through the courts, there are several cases about on this. A good summary here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/ask-a-money-expert/do-have-pay-car-park-fines/

I know of a couple of bertholders who stood their ground and got two. Our battle starts tomorrow!

I only want to park one car, but don't know which it will be!
