newsagents\' policies

Quite true jhr, WHSmith have some funny policy.

1. Waterloo has all mags
2. Euston has MBY and BI for mobos, but not MBM. And it has YW, YM, Sailing today
3. KX has all sail titles but no MoBos
4. Luton Airport has MBM but not MBY or BI, not PBO

recently cancelled YBW sub - will probably end up buying at airport but it's really full of aspiration that requires share options I no longer enjoy (and I don't buy lottery tickets)
MBM - around 2/3 issues bought at newsstand
PBO - getting more interesting (to me) now about 1/4 purchased

Gosh, Ken

That's an impressive length post you have here. Wot's your secret?

To raise a subject that Kim was very coy about earlier, and I don't feel I got a definitive answer for, does the team think its better to let the YM subscription lapse and take the freebie at the boat show, or should I resubscribe now and take the 30% discount? After all it will have to be at least a bottle of Jura to come to the equivalent of the 2-year discount. And as I'm away at sea in from the end of Jan to early March, if IPC do their usual trick of not starting the subscription 'til three months after you've signed I may miss three Port Supplements.

To answer the original question, I subscribe to YM and PBO and have done since about 1989. The main disadavantage is that if they go all naff on us, i.e. all bavaria and eberspacher reviews, how to interface your satnav with your laptop etc., I still get them through the door. Once they promote TCM to editor, Jimi, Claymore and Para to writing the back page and Ken to the revered Denny's understudy's replacement they'll be on the road to recovery. Maybe they'll print some of my pictures as well (last article YM January, 1986 or `87, I think).
See y'all on Monday.

In the interests of science you should test out the 'let lapse and claim freebie' approach and report back here.

Maybe it'll be worth two bottles of Scotland's finest ... "better one sinner repented than a thousand virtuous subscribers".

I subscribe to MBM, PBO and CB purely to support this most august forum. Rarely have time to read them now and last 2 mags received are still in their wrappers. Should be on holiday next month though. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Hi
i dont subscribe 2 any as i got fed-up with the repeats in articles & the fact that they all try 2 be all things to all men, rather than say 20 yrs ago there was more of a de-markation where they all "knew their place/ reader" .
guess that repeats must eventually occur but im just an ole git who has been taking mags 4, 35yrs

that they all try 2 be all things to all men

Made that point a while ago.
If you'd throw PBO, YM & ST together you'd make one great mag.
Alas, for the publishers, only once the advertising revenue.
