Maybe a little more time on maintenance and a little less time on socialising over the winter eh Nostro? And I know I am not exactly a shining example of working on the boat rather than having a good time!

But I pay professional engineers to sort my boat out and I still found the raw water filter improperly fitted, the fan belt not tightened, and the saildrive hub falling apart and needing replacement. The bill for the last was a merciful £370 due to free drying out facilities in Jersey and a helpful engineer who turned out on Saturday morning.

I think there was a touch of the self-irony in Nostro's threads...
However, I can't imagine anyone wanting seriously want to make a league table of personal woes...
I can imagine that anyone of those souls on that amazing image posted by Puffthemagicdragon could have raised the stakes... that boat haunts me...

We lived for three months in an optimist dinghy in a septic tank. We used to have to get up at six in the morning, clean the paper bag, eat a crust of stale bread, go to work down t' mill, fourteen hours a day, week-in week-out, for sixpence a week, and when we got home our Dad would thrash us to sleep wi' his belt.
