Oh, forgot to mention the domestic batteries failed and now the starter battery is making for the door as well

Welcome to the cruising world. Not what I am doing at the mo,,so slightly green around the visual. What you should have done is got a MAB with an ancient Gardiner and parrafin heating and cooking. Blocks and tackle rather than winches... etc. Low tech can be fixed by YOU.
As for your original question... Not too bad. Just got listed on two sites. The CA after fixing an engine prob. And a local restoration site (today) after a nice match on some old iron work. Remains to be seen how it works out.

Trim tab switch is reluctant to go "up",
And the canopy canvas is no longer waterproof.

I have spent substantially more than the value of my car on repairs this season, but it is running well now ... so long as it doesn't rain.

We have not got anything left to sell apart from the camel I swapped for the wife as it used less fresh water

in the last 12 months ive had to replace

fuel tank
diesel lines
toilet hoses
running rigging
standing rigging
mast
boom
vang
underdeck sheaves
wind instruments/mast headunit
sounder and log
vhf radio
main sail
genoa

and I've still got a diesel leak....

Bulbs... Count yourself lucky.. We are using candles made from ear wax and nostril hair

First year out I lost an entire boat in a hurricane.

I keep telling you...go to the Caribbean and save money - you'll enjoy it more too.

(watch out for the Hurricanes though)

You're not alone in the exhaust system woes.

Our exhaust elbow needed replacing and in the process I found that the manifold/heat exchanger housing was also shot. Add a major routine service to the above and the motor alone has just cost £900 in parts.

To add insult to injury, the ludicrously expensive new manifold/exchanger housing doesn't even come painted.

Likewise we "lost" two FLEXIBLE (not) solar panels in the winter storms
Just replaced the domestic batteries with lead acid truck batteries from Carfour (1/4 price of "marine" batteries)
Don't get me started about the gear box coupling (again)
Plus one of my engine mounts is now sheared and held together with dyneema as I can't get it off !
The kids broke the levac toilet seat seal on Their last €1500 week long visit
The coach roof shrunk back in the heat and left 1/4 inch gaps for the rain- water to get in
The dog has ripped a dew claw and looking like a vet job
I'd love to be at anchor instead of paying off Spain's national debt !

Being in similar situation to Pauline I'd certainly opt for a few trivial defects on the boat if it would bring Mrs S back home in good health
