Looking to fit one of the 'compact' Planus or Tecma toilets to replace my old manual Jabsco.

Does anyone know if there is enough room within the toilet body to fit a 1 1/2'' 90 degree outlet bend without having to go through base that the toilet sits on? The installation would be a whole lot easier if everything could be plumbed in straight through the bulk head.

Any plus's or minuses with regards to each brand?

Thanks all

difficult to visualise what exactly you're asking, have you seen x-ray type of pics of them? there's space on the "normal" height ones to move things about a bit and pretty sure that a tight 90deg would fit. what height from the base is the outlet you want to mate to, or is that flexible?
Not sure on the low versions though (think they call them mini)

I have fitted plenty of Tecmas, and Planus are similar. I have fitted the non-compact version, but on looking at the drawings they are similar enough on this point.

The short answer is yes. There is enough free space and hose flexibility to fit a 90 degree elbow inside a Tecma. Swept elbow much better than plain elbow of course. You may have to have the horizontal part of the elbow poking into the bulkhead, and therefore have enoughh slack in the 1.5inch discharge hose - hopefully that's ok and indeed if you didn't have slack you would hardly be able to fit the WC in the first place.

As regards the two brands, very little difference so either is 100% ok. The latest Tecmas are very quiet, and I think a bit quieter than Planus, so I have just specified Tecma on a new build. But I don't think it really matters.

I've seen the various schematics of the two brands, it's just a bit tricky to see how much room there is below the discharge outlet to get the elbow in, good point on the swept elbow jfm.

Might see whether a normal height would work, but the existing base is already raised around 11cm, so it maybe to high, particularly as swmbo is 5' nothing..

Leaning towards Tecma as availability seems better than Planus.

There's loads of room. The Tecma/Planus discharge pipe to which you must make your connection, runs in an inverted U to the pump outlet, and has perhaps 400mm of length, and is made from VERY flexible butyl rubber hose. So you have lots of freedom to move that pipe a bit and get the U bend in there. Really, you'll find it easy. And 42 says they even supply the 90deg bend, so they're inviting you to do this. Lots of boats need their pipes to go through the rear bulkhead not down through the floor.

no, if you're already 11cm up, dont go for the normal height, will be a bit too much me thinks. I'm 1.76 and the normal height tecma sits on a circa 80mm plinth and it's okayish, wouldn't mind if it was a tad lower.
