Did you know that there's storage space behind the kick board at the bottom of the aft cabin berth? I had an S37 for a year, and I found that storage when I removed all my stuff on the day I sold her!

hi nick

yes the seller did show us this as this is where the eberspacher is situated but wow there is loads of space in it here is a pic before it was cleared out

Hi Shawn,

Great pictures, cant wait till we get our upholstery done as well, takes years off the age of the boat.

The lucker under the Salon floor is huge as is the one in the aft cabin (though SWMBO has managed to fill up most of the storage already:D).

Hope you get her back to Weymouth soon and enjoy some autumnal days out

eberspacher ?

Hi again Lanerboy
don't wish to alarm you but i notice in the photo of the heater unit that one of the pipes is not connected! pretty sure that both ends should have a pipe on.one is hot air out & the other is fresh air in,(normally from cockpit somewhere)you could be sucking in engine fumes.
sure some one will correct me if i am wrong, regards MM1.

yes i noticed that perhaps someone can confirm if the pipe should be attached to the other end on the heater unit i did ask the owner but he said it had always been like that and it doesnt seem long enough to reach the heater unit but i still possibly think it should be attached

it wont suck in engine fumes as the engines are futher back this is just a storage locker

I'd be tempted to find out where that hose goes. My money is on a vent in the cockpit, and it is the heater intake. How much of an issue it is depends on how easy it is for fresh air to get into that locker, to be honest. Worst case, if there isn't enough air flow, or the locker is drawing from inside the cabins, the heater will eventually shut itself down.

From my own experience, I would also check the security of the exhaust hose, as ours had almost completely corroded through at the skin fitting, letting exhaust gases leak into the lazarette (where the heater drew its intake air from).

With the tendency to bung junk in the lockers, i'd fit a length of rigid pipe, with a 90 degree bend to get that flexy pipe up out of the way. It ought to got to a fresh air intake, or it will recirculate the air around and around the boat, causing excess condensation.
