Penta alarm

Hi

I have had installed a D1-20. It has done about 400 hours. When I switch it on an alarm sounds which remains on the display when cancelled. The engine then runs perfectly. It seems to be a minor electrical problem but I can see no evidence of wiring faults or connections. I may have had a small amount of water enter the connectors behind the display but I stress, may. Will the system remember any fault even if it has disappeared? Does anyone have any suggestion as to what to try? Maybe disconnecting the power completely? Any ideas welcomed as I don't want to drag an technician out....nearest dealer is over two hours away...just to disconnect and re-connect. Thoughts?

Is this is the modern type of stop-start panel with information symbols appearing in the tachometer window ?

If so pressing the multifunction button (2) accepts the alarm, cancelling the audible warning but leaving the indication in the tacho window until the condition causing the alarm, or false alarm, is corrected.

Maybe a wiring fault or a defective sensor or a problem with the infamous MDI box. Only systematic testing will find the cause.

I have the electrical section of the workshop manual. If I can find the link to it I will post it.

That was easy to find:

Yes, that is my system. I do not have individual gauges. The link to the MDI unit is useful. I didn't know that existed so have just been using the Owner's manual. I'll check through that manual so, Vic, thanks.

Meanwhile any input from elsewhere would be welcomed

P.s. I have already checked the wiring, connectors etc without any solution as everything looks fine as the warning is the triangle which suggests an
electrical problem. I suspect that it's a sensor or maybe some slight operating mistake I made. I have a cat so have two engines and therefore can compare.

Having looked at the manual I can't see anywhere a couple of things I need to know.

1. Does the MDI unit "remember" faults or does it recognise the fault each time the system is activated?
2. If it does remember, how can the memory be cleared?

Anybody know?
