Do you know of any decent dc/dc converters? I've a Samsung 14v monitor running on a cheap ebay converter but has diagonal lines across the screen, tried various capacitors with no luck.

Here's the text of my final post on the relevant thread here:

"Cracked it!

Someone was looking for a laptop supply on canalworld.net, and someone else had bought one of these:

One of the tips fits my TV. The adaptor lets you select several voltages, and the TV has been happily running on 12V for about 7 hours - so far, so good!

I could try at 15V but, as it seems to be working fine at 12V, I'll leave well alone.

Thanks to all for the input - I hope those who were interested see this."

Hope this helps!

I've now bought a Samsung Monitor/TV T24C550ND to try out (14V power); I'm not sure if the TV part will work in Europe, but it was only $150 in Costco.

I've since discovered that it won't work as a TV, so I've decided to take it back and get a much better IPS model instead:

LG Flatron 24EA53VQ http://amzn.to/1cFvrtf

I looked at these in Best Buy over here in the USA, they are excellent. Strangely, not significantly cheaper than this Amazon price, so not worth bringing back. It also has 100mm VESA mounts, rather than 75mm.

I'll have a play and report back regarding the voltages it needs.

Thanks, ordered. I have a smaller Samsung 19" which seems quite happy to run off 12v but a bigger one in the cabin won't have it.

Richard's certainly does a similar job, although both more expensive (£19) and lower power (90W).

The two I ordered are 100W and only £15 on Amazon, with free delivery: http://amzn.to/1oCNOP7

Looks good! For £4, and 10W, the difference is neither here nor there, (unless 100W is crucial :) ).

How does it select the voltage? On a lot that I found, (particularly from Maplin), the voltage was dictated by the tip attached - which was no use to me.

Bugg@r, same again. :)(
Monitor still has horizontal lines on interference on the screen. Oh well, needed a spare laptop charger anyway.
