Patio/Brick cleaner works!

Well just had my local diver clean my prop and shaft for 100 ZAR about 5 Quid in UK money.

Sitting here whilst SWMBO watches Come Dine With Me from Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Those SA laydeezs are great lookers. Can't think which part of your post made me think of that.

I use car wheel cleaner its milder but works well

I've got some lovely bronze portholes which would benefit from this, but would it harm the "Perspex" ( or something similar ) - not sure what the lenses are made of.

No problem with Perspex. but polycarbonate is affected by the concentrated acid

Don't know but I'd think pre 1980 more likely to be acrylic ( eg Perspex) than polycarbonate.
