Anyone got one of these? I'm thinking about the 4hp 4 stroke dual fuel model - I know they're Chinese, and cheap, but are they any good?
(I suspect it's a case of "get what you pay for" here...)

Buy one!

Report back on its performance and reliability in 25 years time.

But dual fuel ? Dual fuel tank is presumably what you mean ?

There are plenty good brands of outboard motors on the market, do not waste your cash on a Parsun, they belong in a skip, they will end up there!
They sound like a box of spanners and you will need a good set after a couple of years. Same goes for Selva, (apart from the 85 hp one which is a rebadged Yam) Buy any small Tohatsu, Suzuki, yamaha, Honda, Mercury etc all will still be working in years to come and be worth more than their weight in scrap.

i borrowed a 1yr old parsun 4hp last week when i forgot to take my 2.5hp 2stroke to the boat and had a very upset 8yr old.

he bought it from new and used it about 4hrs a month and i used it that day for 3hrs non stop and it was very noisy and had a metallic rattle akin the big end bearings or piston slap.

didnt seem to have 4hp aswell as my 2.5hp was just as fast.
he said it was a waste of money and said hed very happily swap for an old 2stroke

RE Davy_S.

All the Selva 4T Outboards 15 h.p. and above are rebadged Yams .... only difference is colour of hood, decals and fuel tank - although they don't have the 80 h.p. model in their range.
