Coming out of Lymington yesterday afternoon, we followed the ferry only to find it stopped in the main channel at or about, red channel mark 8A. Why would it do that? It must have been stationary for at least 5 mins plus.

I have seen our local Rottnest Island ferry stop a few miles out to do a man over board exercise where crew launch a RIB to pick up a MOB. Then recover the RIB and carry on. ol'will

They probably needed to ask directions as it was at least a few hours since they last went that way.
And the skipper was in the pub.
