I have a small section of open grain ply in a dark damp place. I've run out of the proper epoxy. Now that I have it nice and dry, I thought I could seal it with Araldite.
Any thoughts ?
TIA
if you happen to have any isopropyl alcohol around mix that with the araldite to make it runny so that it soaks in the wood.
When doing my wooden boat repairs I used a few litres of the thing (with "normal" epoxy) to seal ply and iroko.
Meths will thin Araldite as well - and give it a pretty colour !
But as another says - heat ... use a Hair Dryer wafting over it .. don't play too long in one place as it will speed up the setting dramatically. Waft it to get temp up and thin to soak in ... then let it set.
I used to repair Carbon Fibre tubes with normal epoxy, sellotape and Hair Dryer .... apply epoxy .. wrap with tape .. apply heat ... once epoxy set - remove tape to have smooth repaired tube ..
