Report in the Guardian today of Orcas attacking and killing blue whale off Australia.

There is also a photo of an Orca swimming inside the blue whale's mouth to eat its tongue. Made me wonder whether they are biting boat rudders to check if a boat has a nutritious tongue which we call a rudder!

It would be interesting to hear more details of this one, where they using the windvane to start with or was that deployed after the first attack ?

Agreed it is only good fortune that none of these boats has been sunk.

Eek. I've got friends sailing that way right now. And planning on going that way myself in a few weeks.

Orcaiberica no longer appears to be getting updated, which is a real pity because it was the best point of information.

Might interest in a pinger...

Better invest in a shotgun and some Sabot rounds ( you can't buy them in the UK)
