The gubbins are well above the waterline and it doesn't seem obviously bent, so aside from it going on the rampage once the crane lifts it onto dry land getting it back in use shouldn't be too difficult; Wise have a good field service department.

It’s not Wise, a Roodberg.

"Yes Sir, we have repaired the lift and it's now back in action so we can start lifting again. Could you bring your yacht over tomorrow morning as you're the first one out".

Just spoken to my daughter's partner, a yacht rigger, whose mate was driving and whose dad saw it happen. It's obviously hydraulic drive and something failed on it - a hose, a valve or similar - and instead of locking down or immobilising it took off freewheeling with the poor driver hanging on for dear life up on the drive platform. It shot off a big, bank or small cliff onto the foreshore and luckily not onto anyone. I imagine that it will be a write-off with all the frame twisted.
The poor driver was pretty bruised and battered and really shaken up.
Whole thing could have been a lot worse. Now they just have to sort out the matter of the 180-200 boats that they were going to lift out with the hoist.

I saw a mobile crane at Dartmouth starting to move towards the quayside with a boat in slings and watching the operator stood behind operating the wireless control box -when he stumbled following the crane and I thought the whole lot was going to end up in the drink but he recovered the situation with a couple of yards to spare although I assume letting go the box would have stopped it?
I did see a large cat being launched and it slipped in the slings and was then hung up on the rudders. The guy who had spent 5 years building it could not watch and had to walk away. Fortunatelt the situation was sorted by gently lowering back down to ground;not sure about a 15 tonne cat hanging on the ruddrs was so good thought!
