I have never really understood the sailboat versus mobo thing because both involve being on the water and both are great fun in their own right but I guess we all have preferences. Good that the OP is delighted with their new toy and we will look out for them next time we around that part of the east coast 😁

It depends on where you are quite often ..

Some areas are prone to noise, wash, sunday boaters in mobo's that do no justice for real mobo owners. But of course you can get some real plonkers in sailboats ...

So I think a lot of it comes from plonkers in the respective type of boat ...

My Baptism this weekend!! Picked up a stray mooring strop on the port prop coming through the West Mersea fleets. There I was, tethered by the tail and unable to unwind it. I had to cut the strop, it must've been 30 mm diameter, and limp to my spot.
Our local diver, Luke, came out next day and successfully removed the remains of the strop. No collateral damage, all seems to work ok. 🫣

That fate awaits most of us at some point. I recall it happening on a classic yawl we were doung the RTI race on. Just about to leave the mooring for the start line, the first of the ebb tide carried a length of rope down, which got sucked into the prop about a second after engaging reverse. The owner went over the side with a knife. Success, great job. Then the ebb tide brought an armada of Royal Plantagenet visitors… you have never seen anyone swim so high in the water, nor get out so fast😂

Launched the 24 yesterday - what a easy job that was off the new multi-roller trailer ..

Fired up the VP 170 ... ran sweet ... water cooling modification works without leaks .....

Off to home mooring ....

Found out BBQ was going to be delayed - so Steve and I cast off ... with 100lts in the tanks - that's about 5 - 6hrs at modest cruise ...

Ran round into the main port and then Yacht Harbour ... show the 38 waiting her launch. Then return to river and a good run up river to really test the water cooling ... no prob.

Finished with a BBQ ... good day !
