OF Number

I've just unearthed the OF number and registered tonnage carved onto a cabin beam.
Always meant to ask the great and the good of the forum what the letters O.F. stand for.
Any ideas?

Always assumed it was "official"

'Official Number'. Means that at some time she was Part 1 registered at the Registry of Ships

Except it should say "O/N" followed by the number
