Are there any Swellies Angels around this weekend who may be able to help?

We want to move Kilter from Conwy to PD but we have a knackered engine. Not convinced there will be enough wind to sail her down, especially as she has a dirty bottom

Any ideas?

Oh dear, I have family commitments this weekend, sorry. Maybe Philliz are about?

You should be able to use the tides - if the timing is OK with daylight. Last of the ebb out of Conwy & carry flood up to Swellies. You may need sweeps to get thro there tho!

:DPity MF is not available to help. Dont think there is another boat with enough grunt, in the chapter, to ensure a safe passage. Mind we would need Little ship at the bach, to keep the brakes on.:D

HW Conwy tomorrow is 14.37
HW Menai is 14.00
Kilter would need to be at Menai at 12.00 to 13.00
Any later and with no motor it might be 'interesting'! (Springs)
Wind looks ok
SE 3 to 4
Leaving on the ebb at Conwy would be ok and go straight over the sandy bits to Beaumaris but that would mean the Swellies would be rushing to Caernarfon at 6kts ish
There would be no usefull wind in there for any reasonable control.
Plenty of water even to go the 'wrong way' around Gorad Goch
Don't mind coming through the Swellies at any time but the fleet of 3 are all ashore at the mo!
Be in PD later will pass the message on to Philiz (they have no wifi at the mo) we need a 'Tug'!!!!:D

Hi Robin. Unfortunately I am not able to help with your trip to PD this week end, Good luck I hope the trip go's well.
But what I can do is if you can get the engine out of Kilter or remove it's US bits and get them up to me I can possibly sort it no probs.
Cheers David.

Gallows point is where NWCC lift out & many people beach at HW on the Beaumaris bay side & over winter there. Seems pretty safe, but I have never used it.

If you beach on the opposite side (ABC's ramp) they have a straddle lift & could probably put you in storage, but a lift in there cost me 80 quid about 25 years ago.

Have you considered beaching under Bodlondeb Pt? You would need to watch out for twigs & leaves collecting on deck & causing rot if left for long, but it is pretty sheltered even in NW'ly as you only float for a little while on springs.

Thanks Steve, their lift out prices haven't risen too much in that case but it must have been steep at the time!

Not too keen on beaching at Bodlondeb as it makes the boat more vulnerable to scrote attack! For a quick scrub or AF I often park on a sand bank!

Looking like next weekend is favourite now Dave and the donk is suffering from age and neglect! Once we have 'moved home' and get hauled out the donk will come out for a strip down, rebuild and repaint.

Just a few more pallets to go, enough to re-plank the transom. ;)

Oi Rushie.....cough over to the frozen snot tight arse brigade with Tommy Wongs washing out :p Dont forget Kilter is made of an organic bio degradable material as well.

Kilter...Only just started if the truth is known, should be finished for April :)

Ahh, yes another rot-box . . . :p

Acshully, I'm just jealous you have the skills, time & deep pockets to run such lovely boats so I can sit on my frozen snotter & look at them in wonder. sadly you only have frozen snotters to admire. :p
